A thousand years

You were standing in the field staring at the grass waving in the wind. It was the same field that Gilbert had proposed to you in…. and had left you in. Five years ago, he left to fight in war promising he would do the impossible to return back alive. You always came out here to wait for Gilbert. So you could see how the beautiful golden sun illuminated his silver grey hair, so you could see that love in his ruby red eyes when he saw you. It all seemed like a cheesy love story but it was your cheesy love story.

Suddenly as the sun began to rise up, you saw a figure walking towards you. It seemed as if time had stopped and the only things that moved were you and the figure. As it came closer, you could see silver hair and playful red eyes. A familiar laugh ran in your ears.
¨Hallo, frau.¨ you heard Gilbert say. In your excitement, you ran towards him and caught him in a tight embrace.  You started to cry. He hugged you back and kissed your cheek.

¨Vhy are you crying?¨ he asked.

¨I thought I would never see you again… ¨ you sobbed. He pulled back and smiled.

¨I´m here now… You don´t have to cry anymore.¨ he said. You smiled and hugged him again.

¨I still can´t believe you left for so long…¨ you whispered as your body shook with quiet sobs.

¨Me neither.. but now… I´m here safe in your arms..¨ he said and hugged you tightly.

¨I will never leave you out of my sight ever again… I don´t want to lose you. ¨ you said.

¨Nien… you vill never lose me… ¨ he said and pulled back to look at you. ¨Meine Liebe…¨
he said as he pushed a few strands of your (h/c) hair. He pressed his lips against yours in a gently kiss. You wrapped your arms around his neck and made the kiss deeper. He pulled back and looked into you (e/c) eyes.

¨And you will never lose me…¨ you whispered and smiled.

¨Good…¨he said and kissed you once more. You would always love him despite how childish he would sometimes act. He was yours…. And yours alone. Unfortunately… this was all a dream…. A dream that would never come true…. You see, Gilbert perished in the war after being stabbed two times in the back. You had lost him even before you had him.
