Sometimes I'm a selfish fake.

Crickets began to chirp their peaceful music as the silver moon shone high in the sky. The stars twinkled brightly, boasting its brightness for all the world to see. Wind blew gently and shook the trees with such care. Almost like the wind had a heart and didn't want to hurt or break the branches of the beautiful trees.

It was a peaceful night. A night when one would think everyone would be able to sleep through this night. Well, it wasn't that easy to be able to sleep through for a young teenager. That young teenager was named Hikaru. He found it very hard to sleep though he was warm next to his twin brother.

Hikaru felt one thought pulling at his conscience. One that persistantly screamed at him to do something about it. But of course, it was midnight so what could he do about it?

Damn, anyway, his annoying thought was about his brother, Kaoru. It was about the day eariler that Hikaru was going to get in trouble but his wonderful brother stepped in and posed as him, saying that he had done what was wrong and that he was Hikaru. Said boy was happy he did that for him but he felt terrible because as he continued to ponder about it, he realized that his brother would always try to help him whenever he got in trouble.

I don't deserve you.

Hikaru sighed and rubbed his eyelids that covered beautiful honey colored eyes. He was so damn tired but he had to do something about his thoughts. He wanted to protect his brother when he got in trouble. And for just once, he wanted to take the blame for something. He hated the fact that Kaoru's reputation was getting damaged everytime he did something bad, while he had a clean and shiny slate.

It wasn't fair for his brother! It just wasn't! And then Kaoru was always there whenever Hikaru was in a bad mood. What if Kaoru cried or something while he wasn't there? It wasn't cool if that happened.

All these thoughts plagued Hikaru's mind to the point he wanted to yell and cry. The guilt was just too much.

And be someone you can come to.

"Hikaru? W-why are you still awake?" Hikaru turned his head to see his brother's identical eyes peer into his. He gave him a small smile and sighed again. It was his turning and tossing that woke his twin up. He ruffled his brother's red hair and chuckled at his reaction.

"Just go to sleep, Kaoru... I'm feeling a bit restless..." He paused to lick his chapped lips and continued. "Don't worry, I'll fall asleep eventually." He finished and recoiled his hand from Kaoru's soft and silky hair. His brother frowned and furrowed his eyebrows.

"Hika... It's four thirty in the morning... I know that three hours from now, you're going to be super pissy." He said with a teasing voice but it was all truth. Hikaru wasn't himself if he was tired.

Hikaru rolled his eyes and sighed quietly. "Just go to sleep..." He responded and looked away. He pulled his knees up to his chest and hugged them.

Kaoru pouted and sat up. He hugged his brother and rested his head on his shoulder. "Come on... Tell me what's bugging you... I hate seeing you like this." He said and looked at Hikaru through the corner of his eye.  

Swirling shades of blue
Slow dancing in your sky,
The sun kisses the earth,
and I hush my urge to cry.

Hikaru payed no attention to him and looked out the window. The sun had started to peak out from it's hiding place. Had he really been up for four hours after midnight? Time seemed to pass him quickly then.

He watched as the stars began to lose its brightnees and the sky turn innto beautiful shades of red, pink, and red violet. He could see the silouettes of the clouds that lingered in the sky.

Hikaru was never the one to cry because of his feelings. He remembered how he cried when the little girl wasn't able to pick out who was Hikaru and who was Kaoru. But he hadn't cried like that in a while.

He felt tears appear in his eyes as he looked down at his knees. His body shook with anger and guilt. Hikaru didn't want to break down in front of his brother. It wasn't natural for him to cry! He was the strong one!

Kaoru's eyes widen as he shook his brother's shoulder. "Hikaru.... If I said something that made you upset, I'm sorry...! I didn't mean to make you sad..." He paused and took his brother's tear streamed face in his hands. Kaoru's honey colored eyes softened as he saw the tears that filled Hikaru's eyes. What was happening? Why was he crying?

'Cause I hear the whispered words.
Within you're a masterpiece, beautiful.
Speak the unspeakable phrase,
I love you too~

Hikaru looked at his twin and let his salty tears fall down his cheeks. It didn't matter to him anymore. Seeing that his brother cared so much made him want to cry and thank him for being an awesome brother but also to yell at him for caring so much to the point he'd do anything for him. Hikaru didn't deserve him!

"Why do you care so much?" He whispered quietly. His voice was hoarse which made Kaoru upset. Said boy sighed and wiped the tears from Hikaru's eyes.

"You're my brother... I'm supposed to care about you... Am I not?" He asked and watched for his twin's reaction.

Hikaru nodded slowly and reached to pull his brother's hands away from his face but stopped when his brother continued.

"I love you."

Hikaru's eyes widen as he soaked in what had been sad to him. He tackled his brother and began to mutter things that Kaoru couldn't decifer. "I love you too, bro..." He whispered as he hugged him.

Kaoru chuckled sadly and hugged his brother back. Even if Hikaru never told him the reason why he was crying, he was glad he could comfort his brother. That's the reason why bros were there right?
